Pinterest for Ecommerce 2021: How to Get Pinterest Traffic to Your Online Shop

<?xml encoding=”UTF-8″>

hey there are you trying to drive buyers to your ecommerce store and pinterest seems like  a good traffic source to you well you’re in a good place because yes pinterest is a great  platform to get both organic and pay traffic to your e-commerce business a lot of people  in many countries are stuck at home now for how long over a year or something and we’re  buying everything online there were times when we had to buy even our grocery online  so yes pinterest will not stay on the side and just watch other platforms grow with e-commerce  of course they have done a lot of changes in the past year or so to make the platform even  more attractive and beneficial for e-commerce businesses so in this video you will learn how  pinterest works for e-commerce and what you can do to make it work for your store  hi i’m Anastasia of anastasiablogger.com and on this channel i share my pinterest marketing tips  as well as my advice on growing your business online if that’s what you want to learn about  then hit subscribe and don’t miss that bell button to get notified when my new videos go live  so pinterest is a great platform to drive traffic to your ecommerce store and keep in mind when you  convert cold traffic you need to capture their emails so you can build relationships with your  visitors and turn them into your loyal customers this video is sponsored by underground ecom they  specialize in helping e-com brands generate revenue using email marketing in 2020 they  generated 25 million dollars in additional revenue for their clients using email marketing alone and  there is a special link in the description below this video in which they are offering a free audit  and a strategy session to the first 20 subscribers to help you generate more revenue using email  marketing so if you’re interested in getting a completely done-for-you email marketing services  that will skyrocket sales in your e-commerce business then again check out the link in the  description below this video so historically pinterest was known as a place for inspiration  and most of the content that was surfaced on the platform was linked to blogs and informational  websites but in the last year pinterest has been clearly shifting to become a platform where people  are not just in the discovery mode and getting inspiration but more so in a buyer mode let me  show you how pinterest is creating this shift so the first thing that happened is that shop  tab is now available for all keywords and first of all maybe you notice that for many search  queries on pinterest you now have these two tabs explore and shop so if you click on the shop tab  pinterest will only show you the product pins over here with the price tags on them and i used  actually vegan recipes keyword on purpose because i wanted to show that even for a keyword that  you wouldn’t even expect to have only or mostly shop results product pins in the results pinterest  anyway shows you the shop tab and you can find in the products over here all these meal plans ebooks  and sometimes even physical foods to buy related to the keyword that doesn’t look like it’s a  keyword with a buyer intent the next thing is that the first keyword suggestion now leads to the  shop tab so another way that pinterest is driving users towards the e-commerce stores is by keyword  suggestions and when you start typing

...

something on pinterest you will see that a lot of times the  keywords the very first keyword that shows up is going to have this little icon that um suggests  going to the shop results and if you click on that keyword you will open the shop tab by default and  in addition to that for a broad keyword like the one that i searched for bohemian home for example  they will show you another block that will guide you towards a better user experience as a buyer  experience let’s say so they will show you the top categories in the home decor niche so you  can click and find maybe racks or maybe bedding or artwork or curtains and all of that will be in the  bahamian style and the next thing that happens is if you click on one of these product pins  you will see a huge blue clickable button saying shop on it and then the name of the store itself  so in addition to all the options that regular pins have for you to click from like  clicking on the image itself on the pin title or even on the domain that you have above the title  in addition to all of that but only for e-commerce stores now pinterest added this huge button that  really prompts users to click away from pinterest to the shop so pinterest is even ready to send  traffic away in such an aggressive i would say manner to drive traffic away from their platform  to e-commerce shops just for you to see how this looks for a regular article pin it’s just an  example of my opinion that goes to a blog post on my site and you see that there is nothing as big  and inviting for users to click from pinterest to another website so you see how pinterest is really  trying hard to make the platform attractive for e-commerce businesses and if you run an e-commerce  website and you’re still not on pinterest i hope you do appreciate how this platform is doing so  much to send traffic to product pins compared to regular pins that are linked to blog posts or to  just informational websites you know and let me show you that even if you are on the explore  tab which is supposed to show you a mix of pins that are going to blog posts articles  and some product pins as well you will see how pinterest is really trying hard to show you all  over the place along with the other along with the other pins go into blog posts they’re showing you  shop by brand blocks of information that that is sending you to this shopping experience show  by category then shop similar over here so they don’t even suggest keywords anymore they suggest  buyer keywords right so if i click shop similar they will now send me away from the explore feed  back to the shop feed so they’re sending me all the time to the product pins and the next thing  that pinterest just did recently maybe in the last couple of months is adding these little dots  that show up on top of the normal pins regular image pins and they are linked to some related  and sometimes not so related product pins let me just show you how it looks so i’m just hovering  with my mouse over this image that goes to adjust an article on a website and see what happens  you see this little dots and if i click on the dot or you also see this even keywords and if i click  on any of that i will be sent to some product pins you see they offer me a buyer experience again  and actually these white dots they started showing up on most of the pins in the home decor niche and  it happens completely automatically on the level of the pinterest algorithm so i’m showing you how  it looks in this home decor niche because it’s the one that has been affected by this at the highest  level at the biggest extent and it was the first niche where we started seeing a lot of these pins  with little dots on them sometimes actually user experience is not that great because the algorithm  is not always really smart understanding what’s on the pin for other niches sometimes when it shows  in other niches the suggestions of the products are completely insane so pinterest still has to do  a lot of work to give the relevant suggestions otherwise user experience is really bad  right so for example for this pin maybe a user was searching for different ways how to use old  baskets and instead of being able to click from this image to the article itself what they suggest  for the user is to buy things like mirrors or artwork plans right so the user wasn’t even  looking for any of this they were just looking for some new ways to use all baskets basically now if  you’re worried that pinterest might be attaching to your pins something like pins linked to  products on other stores if you are an e-commerce site or maybe you’re not an e-commerce shop maybe  you have a blog and you don’t like the fact that pinterest is sending traffic from europeans to  other websites to other products so the solution is that you have to go to your pin manually  click on this icon over here in the left top corner and it allows you to start adding products  and then you’ll see an interface like this and it says add products if you click on this plus icon  you will see that you can add your pins you can look through the pinterest you can look for your  all of your pins and so that will show all kind of pins that you posted on pinterest or product  pins i don’t have any product pins linked to my site so i don’t even know what kind of pin  is showing up over here you can also go through your catego catalog if you obviously if you have  an e-commerce store and you can put a link to a specific product page and then you will just click  save products and that’s how your products will look when you attach them when you click done they  will show up under your pin and that’s how your pin is going to look so from here they can always  click uh not just on the actual pin but also if they if the users go a little bit down under the  pin they will find they attach pins and they can click from here to any other pages on your site  so it doesn’t even have to be a product pin it can be any blog post or whatever and taking products  is actually good for you because you can probably drive some additional traffic to your website  but unfortunately currently we cannot measure how helpful this activity because it’s manual  activity how helpful it is in your pinterest analytics it just doesn’t show how many people  clicked from this additional pins so we cannot track exactly how effective each of these  pins that you attach or each of these products attached to your actual pin  how how many clicks you’re getting you don’t know that and you cannot see that in analytics  but the good news is that whatever number it is it’s better than nothing because if you have these  white dots all over your pins especially people in home decor niche you might be seeing this all over  the place so if you see a lot of your traffic has dropped recently that’s probably because  pinterest has tagged a lot of products from other stores uh and now you need to fix your pins so to  do that you need to add products this way products or if you are just a blogger in home decor niche  then you do the same and you link to your blog articles it doesn’t matter just to your normal  pins what matters is that instead of sending traffic away from your store or your blog you’re  going to send it to your blog and the next thing you need to know about is that pinterest is now  improving integrations for e-commerce platforms so the first thing that businesses are worried about  when they get on pinterest is how to enable rich pins and the great news is that for most popular  e-commerce platforms like shopify and etsy the process will be easy and straightforward you just  need to go to your business account settings click on settings and you’ll find a link claim and from  here you will need to claim your etsy store and or if you’re using shopify you can use a free app  that shopify and pinterest developed together in partnership to make it easier for shopify  users i actually made another video on my channel about how to integrate your etsy store and how  in general how pinterest works for etsy so i will give you a link to that video above my head and  also in the description below this video i also actually made previously a couple of videos about  how pinterest works for e-commerce they might be videos that i published a year ago but  i might have covered there something that i didn’t talk about in this video because this one  is with the most current updates on pinterest and how pinterest is treating e-commerce stores  right now but maybe i’ve covered some details that might be interested for interesting for you  in my previous videos so check them out as well i’ll give a couple of links in the top  right corner and also in the description below this video now there are also some more advanced  things like verified merchant on pinterest and for that one you need to apply with your store  and for this the easiest setup i’ve seen happens with shopify stores and products listed on etsy  are also doing incredibly well on pinterest lately because they’re all automatically considered as  pins from a verified merchant since etsy overall is a verified platform so if you haven’t seen this  page yet you need to read very carefully all the merchant guidelines and everything that they ask  you to do before the application because you don’t want to risk it you don’t want to send  your application and then get rejected so how does it work on practice when you have followed all the  steps that pinterest is asking you to follow and if your store is compliant with their guidelines  then your store will get this little blue icon next to the pinterest profile and here are all  the benefits that merchants are getting when they are compliant and when they get approved so  first you get eligibility for distribution of your products within pinterest shopping experiences  and a blue check mark that you’ve seen already on the profile you will also get price and  availability information on all your product pins and also a sharp tab on your profile will be  showing and making it easier for people on pinterest to see what you sell so all the  e-commerce shops that manage to get a verified merchant status on pinterest are doing really  well and they have an advantage compared to other stores because if you just do a search on in the  shop results on pinterest for any keyword and you will see that all the top results are taken by  shops that are verified merchants i can just keep opening stores one by one and you will see that  maybe not all of them but the majority of these stores will be verified merchants even if i go  to the explore tab where we’re supposed to have a more variety of pins some pins should  be going to blog posts uh we’re still seeing lots of lots of pins that are linked to verify  to verified merchants on the platform and you can even see shop by brand all of them are verified  merchants and the next thing i wanted to cover is conversion insights so there is a new tab in  pinterest analytics that is aimed at helping users with a verified merchant account track  the efficiency on their pins both organic and paid and with this tool you will be able to see better  how pinterest is contributing to your sales and maybe to your email list growth so this has  always been an issue that tracking conversions from pinterest was really hard they just seem  to get completely lost in google analytics so i guess that pinterest is now trying to track  this in their native analytics and they want to show how pinterest traffic can actually help you  with conversions and i wish i could show you how this really works in my account but unfortunately  i have all this uh tag and healthy issues so i think it’s because if i click on it the next  step i see that i have to provide product ids and everything so i understand it should only  work for accounts that have an e-commerce store attached and they have actually a very verified  merchant status because that’s what they’re saying in the more detailed article they’re saying that  you need to have either verified merchant status or you should be a shopify merchant so it probably  will not work on my account but it could really be interesting for you if you do have an e-commerce  store so a lot of things have changed in the last year on pinterest in regards to how this platform  now clearly gives priority distribution to e-commerce pins and there is a great opportunity  for you to join the platform and grow sales and income with your store using pinterest traffic  just to remind you if you want to always stay on top of any changes and updates on pinterest  then join my pinterest course you will find the link in the top right corner and in the  description below this video and if you have any questions or maybe interesting things you would  like to share or you noticed about pinterest for e-commerce that maybe i missed in this video then  share them in the comment section below this video now i’m going to sign off for today stay safe stay  healthy and before you leave here are a couple of other videos perfectly complementary to what i  shared with you today you can check them out here and there and i will see you in the next videos
